Thomas L. Hogan is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Austin. He is also an Associate Senior Research Fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) and a Senior Research Fellow with the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI). He was formerly the Chief Economist for the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, & Urban Affairs.
Dr. Hogan has held a variety of positions in the academic and private sectors. He was previously a Fellow at Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy, Assistant Professor of Finance at Troy University, and Assistant Professor of Economics at West Texas A&M University. He has worked for Merrill Lynch's commodity trading group and for investment firms in the U.S. and Europe. He was a consultant to the World Bank and a research fellow at the Cato Institute.
Dr. Hogan earned his Ph.D. in Economics from George Mason University and holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. His primary research interests include banking regulation and monetary policy. His work has been published in academic journals such as the Journal of Macroeconomics, the Journal of Regulatory Economics, and the Journal of Money, Credit & Banking.
